HP Notebook 15s-fq1002na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Sometimes my laptop trackpad stops working entirely or it'll do a 2/3 finger gesture when I'm using 1 finger (e.g. I'm swiping my fingers across the trackpad but it'll zoom in as if I was pinching or it'll switch windows as if I was pressing ctrl+shift+tab). This seems to happen randomly, and I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them but nothing fixes it. It's been happening for around 2 months now I'd guess. How do I fix this?

Hi @RRScreenName,

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing trackpad issues with your HP Notebook 15s-Fq1002na.

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad/trackpad drivers.

1. Press the Windows key and type Device Manager in the search.
2. Click on Device Manager to open the applet.
3. Double-click the Mice and other pointing devices option to expand it.
4. Right-click on your touchpad driver and select Uninstall device.
5. Click the Uninstall button to confirm the action.
6. Finally, click Scan for hardware changes icon at the top to reinstall the driver.
7. In Device Manager, check if your Touchpad is shown in the Mice and other pointing devices category. Also, restart your computer to apply the changes.

You may also refer to the steps from this document. (Click on the word document to open the web page).

I hope this helps.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the trackpad drivers didn't help. I also tried updating the trackpad drivers but that didn't help either
