I cannot get my new Spectre x360 16" to recognize my old laptop in order for me to transfer file via USB cable.

How are you connecting it? A USB-C cable?  Why wouldn't you transfer files over network?

That is not how it is done. Connecting two notebooks with a USB cable is not viable.

 

It can be done by wired or wireless network, but transferring by way of an external disk or USB flash drive is just so much faster and more efficient.

 

To keep things simple, copy the file to a USB flash drive.

 

Once that is done, plug it into a USB on your Spectre x360 and copy it to the Spectre x360 from there by using of the Windows File Explorer
