Hi all! I'm trying to look up a replacement motherboard for HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 CTO Quad Edition, but the only model information I can come up with for it is Hewlett-Packard 181D which doesn't come up with anything on motherboard sales sites. Any suggestions or better info for me pretty please?

Hello Pepsigirl78,
I believe the HP PartSurfer/Part Store is providing different information considering that this laptop is a CTO model.
The exact same motherboard part numbers are these two: (First one having 2GB of VRAM)
682016-001
681999-001
This is taking in an account of your current configuration.
You can then use the HP Spare part number(s) in the HP Parts store here. You may also be able to find it elsewhere on the Internet.
Regards,
Eddy

Hello Pepsigirl78,
Because this computer is a CTO model (Custom-to-order), a run-down of the specs is required.
- Chipset (processor)
- Graphics

Ah, ok, thanks! I bought it second hand, always wondered what the CTO meant, lol!

Also, would you happen to know if it's difficult to get it running after replacement? I know I can physically replace it, but I'm concerned about what extra steps might need to be done to get it to actually run! (CMOS, BIOS, etc)

Hello Pepsigirl78,
I just realized that, if you want, you can run a higher specced motherboard:
Your computer has a 630M chipset, a 45-W processor and either 2GB or 1GB of memory.
You can then use the HP Spare part number(s) in the HP Parts store here. You may also be able to find it elsewhere on the Internet.
In terms of the CMOS battery, you can actually try using the old one. Otherwise, you can also purchase that with HP Spare Part number 682091-001.
All the replacement procedures will be located in your computer's Maintenance and Service Guide.
Since you did tag your computer as Windows 10, I'll provide you steps to reactivating Windows 10 after a major hardware change: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change
BTW, why did you decide to replace the motherboard?
Kind regards,
Eddy

Oh nice, thank you so much! I love this computer, but it's been pretty abused unfortunately. I take it with me when I travel and the last time I was away my carry-on suitcase - with my poor laptop just inside the lid since they don't let you check it - leaped out of the car and landed with a good smack on the pavement. It took me a while to get it working again (it had knocked some things loose I think) but I did thankfully. Unfortunately, it hasn't been the same since. The memory card reader and HDMI ports no longer work (the HDMI is actually bent a bit) and it just hasn't run the same. I have replaced the hard drive since (I wanted a larger one anyway) and did a clean install of everything, but it does strange things still. Random errors come up with programs (both before and after the HD replacement) and after it's been running for a bit it slows right down (can take a minute or so to close anything that's open) and weird things like that. I don't actually have any idea if there's anything wrong with the motherboard, but when I looked into trying to buy a similar specced computer it was in the $1000+ range! I was weighing my options on simply rebuilding this one. I've never done that with a laptop before though, so I'm totally open to suggestions/advice! I've taken them apart before, right down to the bones to replace the fan (who decided to make the fan the very last thing you get to in disassembly???) but I've never replaced a motherboard!

And quick question... if you think it's worth it to replace the motherboard, I tried going to the HP parts site that you linked, but my product number (A3G47AAR) isn't found. If I look it up by model I see the computer come up, but the part number is different and it only lists one option in the motherboard section (the 682042-001 one.) What was the part number for the upgrade you were suggesting, if you still happen to have it handy?

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!! Last question, if I upgrade the motherboard to one of those will there be anything extra I have to do (aside from just physically installing it) to the BIOS or anything?

I can't seem to find any information about how much ram this motherboard (HP 682016-001) supports. I'm trying to look it up through the Crucial Advisor Tool but it asks for model numbers like HP 1436 or HP 22A9, etc. It can't find "HP 682016-001"
