HP 15s-eq1079na Laptop, AMD 3020e Processor,

Can I upgrade this laptop using a 2.5inch SATA Solid State Drive
I just want to transfer the hard drive from my old to laptop to the new, rather tha cloning drives

Hi:

According to the product specs for your notebook, it comes with a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD.

What that means is there is no cable or mounting bracket to support a 2.5" drive.

The service manual indicates that no 2.5" drives were supported in the model series, so what you want to do is probably not possible.

If you want to upgrade the 128 GB M.2 SSD, you can install a faster M.2 NVMe SSD having a larger storage capacity.

Thanks Paul

It seems that Sata 2,5" drives are a thing of the past with the latest laptops
I could clone my old laptop drive to the M2 drive but I think that would invalidate the warranty

You're very welcome, Alan.

Installing a different drive configuration on the hard drive would invalidate the software support warranty, but it shouldn't invalidate the hardware warranty.
