Hi @Beachaholic,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing those details on HP’s official guidance for USB issues on your HP 15.6" Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y3AV) running Windows 11. You’ve done a great job already running diagnostics and checking Device Manager. Let’s focus on some deeper, accurate troubleshooting steps

1️. Power Reset the Laptop

This clears any electrical glitches affecting the USB controller:

  • Shut down your laptop
  • Unplug the AC adapter
  • Disconnect all USB devices
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (without any USB devices)
  • Turn the laptop back on and test a USB device again

2️. Reinstall USB Root Hubs (Even if no errors show)

Sometimes corruption doesn’t show up in the icons.

  • Right-click StartDevice Manager
  • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
  • Right-click each USB Root Hub (USB 2.0) and Uninstall device
  • After uninstalling all, restart your laptop — Windows will automatically reinstall them
Now, test your USB 2.0 ports.

3️. Check Windows Power Management Settings

USB ports may be disabled by power-saving settings:

  • In Device Manager → Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers
  • Double-click each USB Root Hub
  • Go to the Power Management tab
  • Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
  • Click OK for each

Then test your ports again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
