Elitebook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a brand new Elitebook 840 G3.  No matter what you plug into the USB-C port, it does nothing, not even the dock.  I have plugged the USB3 to USB-C adapter in, and when I plug the dock into it, it will work.  Not sure if the USB-c port is dead or if there is a setting somewhere that turns it on or off.

Try going into the BIOS and look for settings about Thunderbolt security...turn it off.

Thanks for the advice but I wasn't able to find any Thunderbold security settings in the BIOS.

I have just bought a G4 elite book and I am havign the same problem.  The USB-C dock does not work on the USB-C port.  I tried all the obvious updates and nothing worked.  I took the laptop back to the supplier and they told me thta HP confirmed that the USB-C dock does not work in the USB-C port that is why an adapter is provided!!

what is the point of having the USB-C +port? Does anyone know.

Regards

I ended up getting the standard docking station and avoid the USB-C docking station completely if possible.
