Hi there,
I've been using the Spectre 360x for the past couple of months. Recently, I noticed that one of the USB-C ports (the one closer to the hinge) only works for charging the notebook, i.e. it doesn't recognize other devices (I have tried a memory key and a port extender with no success for either). In addition, I have noticed that the one port that does recognize other devices only does so when the notebook is plugged in. Both ports work for charging.
Has anyone had this issue and knows how to solve it?
Thank you.

This is not the first time your issue has been reported in these forums, though I cannot readily find the previous thread. I seem to remember that the previous poster's issue spontaneously disappeared.
It is worth doing a restart in Windows, which is a true reboot unlike a shut down and power on. If that doesn't clear the problem, try a reset by disconnecting everything including the power cord, turning off the system then holding down the power button for 15 seconds. Does that get your reluctant USB-C port back into operation?

What is your Spectre x360 Convertible ? Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
Regards.

That is good to hear. A restart of Windows is always a good first step, as shut down and power on normally does a fast restart that doesn't reset everything.
The system's embedded controller has quite a role to play in configuring USB-C functionality whether the system is running Windows or not, so if it stops working properly then USB-C functionality can be impaired. The 'all leads out' reset procedure I mentioned resets the embedded controller and normally gets things working correctly again.
If you keep having problems, make sure you have the latest BIOS and Thunderbolt 3 NVM firmware from the HP support page for your system, as these might contain relevant fixes. The Thunderbolt firmware is only relevant if you have any Thunderbolt devices; normally you have to have a Thunderbolt device connected to the system in order to install it.
Hopefully any further USB-C problems happen rarely if ever - but if they do, you now have some idea what to do.
