Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

My laptop randomly overheated, causing both my fans to lose power and not start as well as 3 of my USB ports– on the right side of the laptop, to not work (2 USB 3.0 and 1 USB-C port). I've tried disconnected the battery, draining residual power and nothing. I did do diagnostics within the UEFI and the ports failed the test and returned with a failure ID: 9TXXW8-C25D5F-XD7WXF-8D5403. Am I cooked? Am I going to need a new motherboard for my laptop or is there something I can do on my end to fix it?

Hi   @dragon-codex,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I  understand how worrying this must feel  when your laptop overheats and components like fans and USB ports stop working. Based on the failure ID you shared (9TXXW8-C25D5F-XD7WXF-8D5403) and the fact that the UEFI diagnostics flagged the ports as failed, this points to a hardware issue rather than something that can be resolved with resets or software fixes.

Since the fans and multiple USB ports are affected, it’s likely  the system board .To ensure your device receives the appropriate care, we recommend visiting an authorized HP service center. Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.
