Hi @Mei22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how frustrating it is when your Pavilion 15-eh1083ur won't charge while you're actually trying to use it.

To put it simply, your laptop is designed to charge via USB-C while turned on, but it is very "picky" about the handshake it makes with the charger.

Here is how we can fix this right now:

Perform a Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets hardware:

Disconnect the power adapter.

Remove the battery (if removable).

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.

Reconnect the adapter (leave the battery out for now).

Press the power button to turn it on.

Check the cable: Ensure you are using a USB-C to USB-C cable that is specifically rated for 65W/5A. A standard phone charging cable will almost always fail to charge this laptop while it's turned on.

Update the BIOS: Please refer to the following document to update the BIOS

Are you using the official HP USB-C power adapter or a third-party brand like Anker or Ugreen?

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
