I have two HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Docks, and both of them have a problem with the USB ports not always working, or working intermittently, or partially with my new HP OMEN Laptop 15t-ek100. Both of these docks work fine with my old Elitebook. The display ports, the Ethernet, and the audio all work fine on both notebooks. I've updated the firmware on both docks to the latest, as well as the OMEN's BIOS and Win10 is all up-to-date.
Yes, I understand that technically this dock is not officially "supported" on OMEN, but it just seems that all it should be doing is running USB traffic over the USB-C cable, so I don't understand why these ports wouldn't work while everything else does.
Anyone have similar issues, or have any clues as to how to resolve? If not, I'll have to buy some new docks, but HP is out of stock on almost all of the USB-C / Thunderbolt docks, so I'll likely have to spend my money elsewere.
Thanks.

You already answered yourself, they are not compatible. You should be able to connect to external monitors, USB keyboards, mice, external USB drives and NIC. What more do you expect ?

I'm not sure if you mean through the Dock, or directly from the notebook. If you mean the former, then that's point...I cannot reliably connect to USB devices through the Dock.

That's kind of a snarky question, but honestly I expect USB ports to work on a USB dock connected over USB.

Please try to update firmware of the dock. HP has at least 5 Thunderbolt™ 3 docks, which one is yours ?
Regards.

@texmex90 -- how much wattage is needed, in total, by the USB devices that you connect to your Thunderbolt?
How much wattage is being supplied by your computer through the USB-C cable to the Thunderbolt?
Does the Thunderbolt have its own power-supply?

I have no idea how much wattage is being supplied by the notebook through the cable, but the dock does have its own power supply. These same devices all work just fine with my Elitebook, so it's definitely not a power / wattage issue on the dock.

I actually tested my HP Omen 15" (200W charger) with my HP USB-C Gen 5 dock which has 100w out. The dock won't charge my Omen when in use but it gave all other functions.
My next test would be the HP Thunderbolt™ Dock 230W G2 2UK38AA.
