my right hand side laptop USB port is always charging devices plugged into it even when I shutdown my laptop. is there a way to make it stop charging device when off??

I've tried the BIOS/UEFI Settings. there is no option To disable USB charging.
I've also uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." In "Device Manager." - "Universal Serial Bus controllers"  - USB Root Hub Properties. Still not working.

Hi @Otp407,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for the response.

I understand your HP Omen 15 laptop keeps powering devices on the right-side USB port even when shut down. This happens because the port supports HP USB PowerShare (also called “Always-On USB”), which is designed to let you charge devices while the laptop is off.

If the BIOS/UEFI doesn’t provide an option to disable it (and you’ve already checked Device Manager), then unfortunately this feature cannot be turned off on your model.

Workarounds:

Plug devices into the other USB ports that don’t support PowerShare.

Disconnect the charger when not needed.

Use a simple USB port blocker or adapter to prevent charging on that specific port.

If you’d like, I can guide you to HP documentation to confirm which ports on your Omen 15 support PowerShare.

I hope this helps.
