Hi,

Does it ever turn off when on ac adapter?

I would say it is most likley the battery, even if it passes the test. I usually replace the battery about every 18-24 months as I will really notice the deterioration of the battery after this time.

The part number for the battery is 593554-001

There is also a larger 9 cell battery with part number 636631-001

You can find a compatible battery online

Hope it helps,

David

Hi, I know I just posted a recent thread but this comment will be completely separate form that. I have an HP Notebook 15-ba07dx that’s almost 3 years old and the battery had failed so I could only use it when it was plugged into an ac, but a little why after the battery failed, it started to unexpectedly shut down even when plugged in too. I talked to some tech experts at Best Buy and they said that the laptop shutting off, even when plugged into the ac is probably a result of a motherboard failure. I want to make sure if this I true, so that I can maybe get it fixed in the future if it isn’t too expensive.

Hi @Anti_Zac

You should check the ac adapter and see if it has any problems.

You should perform a Hardware diagnostics at boot on the system and see if it has any hardware problems. (Press ESC at start until startup menu appears and then press F2 to enter diagnostics)

You should also check the temperatures the PC is running at (you can use software such as Speccy or AIDA64 Extreme).

Let me know,

David

Sorry @Krish25 , but I was replying to the other Member who has joined your thread.

I would say a battery problem. I mean, if all is working well when on ac adapter. Was it an original battery you installed?

I would try a new battery, as if it is not the battery, we are talking about a motherboard problem.

David

@Krish25

You will need to replace the battery, I believe it is the only way to fix this issue.

I’ll have to go digging for my laptop later but from what I can tell you right off the bat is that I lost the original ac adapter charger that came with the laptop, so I bought an off-brand charger replacement that worked fine. And the last time I used it before it shut off, the fans weren’t running loud and the laptop didn’t feel hot at all, more or less just warm. I was only on it for about 10 minutes.
