I'm completely unable to re enable my clickpad and I'm super exasperated
Here are the steps I took:
1) I went to the clickpad settings and deactivated and ractivated then clicked ON APPLY. Nothing happened
2) Check to see if the turn on/off on the left corner was check marked. It wasn't
3) Tried the click pad setting several times. Finally I clicked on the reintitalize buttonn Again nothing.
4) Rebooted the computer. Still nothing
5) downloaded and reinstalled the drivers. Still nothing
6) Click on FN F4. Nothing happened
7) Did a system restore dated 5 months ago. Again the trackpad doesn't work
😎 I haven't bothered to try reinstalling the drivers.
Any ideas why the trackpad persistently resfuses to reactivate? As I said I'm really exasperated
Thanks!

Welcome to the HP Forums,
We'll be with you until it's all sorted.
It seems like the only step you've avoided, could end up resolving the issue as a system restore wouldn't affect the existing the drivers and reinstalling it should fix the same:
To uninstall a device by using Device Manager, follow these steps:
-
Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
-
Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
-
On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
-
When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.
Then, install the latest drivers for BIOS, Chipset and Input devices from the HP website: Click here to find and install the same.
If the issue persists, try the below steps:
-
Click Start, search for Device Manager, and select it from the list of results. Under Mice and other pointing devices, select your touchpad, open it, select the Driver tab, and select Update Driver. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, look for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.
-
If those steps didn't work, try uninstalling your touchpad driver: open Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) the touchpad driver, and select Uninstall. Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
-
If that didn't work, try using the generic driver that comes with Windows. Here's how: in Device Manager, right-click (or press and hold) your touchpad driver > Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select HID-compliant mouse, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.
Let me know how that pans out
I will have a colleague follow-up on this to ensure it's taken care off,
as I need to know if the issue has been resolved, to get proper sleep at night.
feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon,
followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution' as it would help the community gain more knowledge, and have a great day Ahead!
