Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there,

my laptop has the following Samsung OEM SSD. It obviously has a PM991a controller. The problem is that the write throughput is far away from the official specs.

This is what the Samsung Magician Software says under Windows 11. While the read speed is OK, the write speed is not. My laptop is up to date with the latest firmware updates provided by HP, including the BIOS/UEFI and Intel MEI.

The official specs from Samsung state the following, i.e. sequential write up to 2000 MB/s instead of only around 300 MB/s.

It seems to be a problem with the SSD controller and/or its firmware, according to Dell users with the same model.

Can anyone help? HP does not seem to provide a newer firmware for this model.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Fyi, HP have replaced the SSD by a Micron 2450 model. This one does not seem to have any problems so far.

Thank you. I am already in touch with the customer support. They asked me to perform a UEFI DST on the SSD, but the results were OK. No hardware error detected. Let's see what they'll suggest now.
