Thunderbolt and Alt-DP are advanced features of USB-C not found on all USB-C ports and among other things means the output from the USB-C port includes a native video signal it is very easy to use externally. The G2 dock also has DisplayLink which is a chip used for translating ordinary usb connection to video. Slower than Alt-DP but still functional. I know you can get a VGA and an HDMI connection via DisplayLink and there may be a converter that allows use of the DP ports. I just know the dock will work for the regular stuff like mouse, keyboard and ethernet and also allows usually up to 2 external monitors.

Thank you. Not sure about what Thunderbolt, and Alt-DP are, but what I want to connect are simple things like a standard mouse, headset, keyboard and indeed two monitors. The latter have all sorts of slots like HDMI, DP, U'SB-A. As the G2 has two DP slots if I see this correctly, I could use these ore one DP and one HDMI. Would all of these things be possible to connect to my Pavilion?
