I have managed to hunt down drivers for all my Unknown Devices except this one.
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9D3A&SUBSYS_8079103C&REV_21\3&11583659&0&B0
What is the device and what driver can I load to fix this?
Windows 7/64 EliteBook 850 G3
Thanks!

Wow.
The last thing you can try that I know of is to see if forcing the driver to install will work.
One thing is, that device should be showing up in the device manager as a PCI Simple Communications Controller when the driver is missing, not an Unknown device.
First, click on the unknown device, select uninstall and check the uninstall driver box.
Then restart the PC.
Then go to the device manager and see if anything has changed. If not, click on the device needing the driver, Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver. Select the browse my computer for driver software option, but this time, at the bottom of the window, click on the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click on Have Disk, and browse to C:\SWSetup\sp79254\Drivers\MEI\Win7\heci (setup information file) and see if the driver installs that way.

Hi:
According to the hardware ID you posted, you need this driver...
This package provides the Intel Management Engine Components Driver for supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

That is a good question, because when you explore the contents of the driver file, it clearly shows support for the hardware ID you posted.

So, the only suggestion I can offer would be to try manually installing the driver as follows...
Go to the device manager and click on the device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver. Select the browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp79254.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way.
If not, then we'll try one last ditch effort to install that driver.

I agree that this is the correct driver. At least I am learning how to associate the device ID to the correct drivers. I managed to clear all my Unknown Devices except for this one.
I did try again, using the Update Driver Software and it did reload. It gave me the options to uninstall or repair. I chose Repair and it loaded again, successfully but the device still shows as unkown.

That fixed it! 🙂
I do not fully understand why this method of installing worked, but it did and thats the bottom line. I will remember these steps in the future if I need them!
Thank you so much for your help.
