HP ZBook 17 G3 Mobile Workstation (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!  I own a 7 year old HP ZBook 17- G3 that I am still happy with but my wi-fi performance has been less than stellar lately.  I used the UEFI tool to determine that my Wi-Fi card "Passes" but still would prefer to replace it.  Have been told that the USB wi-fi adapters have made nice strides but still not as good as a new wi-fi card.  My current card is an Intel Dual Band Wireless -AC 8260 and it is a UEFI system.  Looking for a recommendation on a new wi-fi card that will work in my system and give me better performance than my current card.  Thanks!  Will

Hi:

I could not find any posts where someone upgraded the Wi-Fi card in that model series.

I did answer a related question regarding upgrading the ZBook 15 G3's Wi-Fi card to a better model but the person never provided any feedback.

All you can do is to try one of the cards I recommended and hope they work.

I appreciate the response.  This may end up being a hit or miss proposition.  In your previous response, you suggested:

Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # M27269-005

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro    HP part #L35282-005

Me not knowing a **bleep** difference between the two, which one should I try first?

You're very welcome.

It's probably a toss-up between which one has a better chance of working.

The only difference is the AX210 is a Wi-Fi 6E card which, if you have a router capable of working on the 6 GHz Wi-Fi band, is the next model after the AX200.

Here are the side-by-side specs for both cards:

Intel® Product Specification Comparison

There does not appear to be any difference in maximum throughput, but if you have a Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 router, you can put the AX210 on the 6 GHz band where there would be presumably less 'traffic.'

If I had a feeling that there was absolutely no chance of a better/newer card working, I would have replied accordingly.
