Microsoft Windows 11

I have seen that the processor of my hp envy 15 j108la can upgraded from the i7-4702MQ to an i7-4900MQ but it has a different TDP will this affect performance?

If you look at chapter 3, bottom of page 21 of the service manual, different motherboard part numbers are used in the notebooks that come with the 47W processors, so probably the i7-4900MQ processor may not work.

I do find it interesting that there is no separate heatsink for the 47W processor models, so that wouldn't be an issue.

I understand

My motherboard number is 741653-501

what would be the best processor to support this motherboard?

I thought that was how it works, but if you look at the list of PC's the motherboard part number you posted is used in, there is one configured to order model that uses that motherboard, it lists the 47W Intel Core i7-4800MQ processor is supported.

That's the only one of the list of PC's that has anything better than the processor your notebook came with.

So, maybe the I7-4900MQ would work as well.
