HP ENVY Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I would like to know if I can upgrade my HP ENVY 15t as100 CTO laptop's RAM, SSD, and Processor.

Current hardware:

RAM - 12GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 4GB, 1 x 8GB)

SSD - 256GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD

Processor - Intel® Core™ i7-7500U (2.7 GHz, up to 3.5 GHz, 4 MB cache, 2 cores) + Intel® HD Graphics 620

I would like to upgrade RAM to 16 GB, SSD to 1TB, and Processor to i7 8th generation 0r 9th generation or i9 9th generation.

Kindly help me in finding compatible hardware.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Max RAM is 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz (2x16GB) even if service manual mentions 16GB

There are two slots. The RAM will run at 2133MHz. You can purchase from your preferred brand.

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/envy-15-as100-cto#MEMORYFilters

On page 33 of service manual, you can see the steps to install the RAM

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05219344

You can upgrade the M2 PCIe NVMe SSD to one of a much higher capacity (no limit). You can purchase from your preferred brand.

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-15-as100-cto/CT13819880

The Processor is not upgradable as it is integrated on the motherboard (soldered). You would need to replace the whole motherboard which would most likely cost as much as a new PC.

Hope it helps,

David

Thank you so much for your response.

So you are saying I can install 2x16GB 2400MHz though my laptop supports 2133 MHz and Max 16 GB according to manual.

I really want to know how the performance would be with i7 7500U 2 cores and suggested upgrades.

Or I should go for i7 8th generation to work on big data technologies. Please suggest if you can.
