I want to upgrade this laptop with a M.2 SSD. There is an available slot, but other inquiries suggest that there might be an issue of windows install not recognizing the drive. There are no SSD drivers for this laptop listed on the HP site. (This posting of the problem shows no resolution: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrade-internal-SATA-Hard-dri...) and I am unable to send the user a question.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook on the NVMe SSD.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility: You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this:

The only thing I can tell you that the recovery image you make is not 100% guaranteed to work, so hopefully it will for you.
If it doesn't there are no storage controller drivers for the AMD storage controller that I know of, and I suggest you post on the AMD support forum to see if anyone has ever found a solution to this problem.

I have a HP x360 15-ee0047nr notebook with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor and have clean installed W10 and W11 on it more than once and never had an issue with Windows finding the 512 GB NVMe SSD it came with.
I've read posts where folks can't get Windows installed on even the older Ryzen 3xxx processor series, so I have no idea what the problem is or what the solution is.
Just hope the cloud recovery software does what it is supposed to do.
Make the recovery drive now before you install the SSD.
I also suggest that if you are keeping the 2.5" drive temporarily disconnect it, so the cloud recovery took recovery image doesn't install on the hard drive.
