Upgrade HP Pavilion DV7-1183cl Laptop

Curious if I can upgrade my CPU,GPU, RAM... already added dual 500GB Samsung SSD and that helps alot...

But would love to see how far the rest can be upgraded. Many thanks for your advice.

 I have checked the manual ( page number 5).

Supports up to 16384-MB system RAM Supports the following system RAM configurations:

● 16384-MB (8192-MB×2; not supported on computer models equipped with a 32- bit operating system)

● 12288-MB (8192-MB×1+ 4096-MB×1; not supported on computer models equipped with a 32-bit operating system)

● 8192-MB (8192-MB×1 or 4096-MB×2; not supported on computer models equipped with a 32-bit operating system)

● 6144-MB (4096-MB×1 + 2048-MB×1; not supported on computer models equipped with a 32-bit operating system)

● 4096-MB (4096-MB×1 or 2048-MB×2)

● 2048-MB (2048-MB×1)

I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Or you can contact the local service center for an upgrade.

Thanks so much for your reply. The manual link is very helpful.

My goal is to find a Motherboard, and CPU configuration that will fit my existing Laptop case.

If possible it would be great to use the newest compatible i7 4 core processor with the fastest possible NVIDIA card.

So the question is given the spec (my SN = CND843562Y) of the system I have... what option do I have?

If you have an exact part# I will search for this and can do the upgrade my self.

If you have some time and patience and would like to help on this your insight and wisdom will be most appreciated.

I noticed the link you sent me was for the ENVY DV7 laptop... is that different than the Pavilion DV7?

I understand that you would like to upgrade the motherboard.

(HP does not recommend upgrades as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed in HP articles are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion)

The supported motherboard is mentioned in the manual . 

Motherboard part is not user replaceable part. In that case, you have to conatct our phone support and check for the option. They will help you.

Or you can conatct local service center for repair.

The manual you linked is for the ENVY model (in effect the 7000 series)

I have the Pavilion model 1183cl.

The compatible motherboard list is what I need for this 1183cl.

ps as an example will my LAPTOP CASE form factor and power supply work with this item?

I have a potential source for this with a CPU and RAM already installed. If it fits I can swap it in my case and still use the rest of the components as normal.

Please advise. Also note, your phone support was unable or unwilling to help in this so I need your help to make this work.

I have some experience doing mother board replacements and have been technically building my own computers for many years.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.

You need to check with local service center you can physically check your system board form factor.
