Greetings,
I'm interested in knowing if it's possible to UPGRADE my mother board in my OMEN 17 gaming system. I've been looking around and from what I'm understanding, it might be possible to replace the motherboard. When the time comes, I would like to upgrade to Windows 11 but the computer model I have right now isn't supported to run Windows 11 (CPU isn't supported...).
Current model is 17-an012dx. I'm good with the processor upgrade (of course) and a better video card. I upgraded the memory to 32 GB so that isn't a big deal.
Thanks for your help, ahead of time.

Hi, Dino:
You are correct. Your notebook's Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ processor just misses the minimum W11 processor requirements.
OMEN by HP - 17-an012dx Product Specifications | HP® Support
Chapter 3 of the service manual has the list of supported motherboards with their HP part numbers.
The processors listed are supported by Microsoft for W11.
If you decide to upgrade the motherboard, make sure you buy one with the Windows 10 product key in the BIOS.

Also, you don't need to spend a dime to make any hardware changes to install W11.
If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2/22H3
You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

I believe HP removed manuals for the series. Bur based on the published manual (Maintenance and Service Guide) on the following link. It does support Windows 11 (page 57).
