Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

c02542102.pdf (hp.com)

The supported processors and memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.

Finding the right memory for notebooks with the Mobile Intel® HM55 Express Chipset is very tricky.

You have to find a 4 GB memory chip that is no faster than DDR3-1333 MHz, has 8 little black memory chips on each side of the circuit board (2Rx8), not 4, and the memory should be 1.5V, not 1.35V.

The very available DDR3L-1600 memory chips will not bridge to 1066 MHz, which is why you have to use PC-8500 or PC-10600, not PC-12800.

Do I have to find my processor in the manual?

What model Intel processor does your notebook have now?

I couldn't find any specs on that, since the model series has been retired.

Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU P6100 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 GHz

Your PC's processor is a member of the same Arrendale processor family as the other processors listed in the service manual.

Intel Pentium Processor P6100 3M Cache 2.00 GHz Product Specifications

So, any of those processors should work such as the Intel Arrandale™ i7–620M Processor.

You may as well max it out if you can find one of those at an affordable price.

Can you recommend some good processors for a good improvement?

And can you recommend a good compatible RAM?

I would only consider installing one of the i5 processors or the i7-620M.

Anything less would be a virtual waste of your time and money.

Like I wrote in my last reply...go for the i7.

Check eBay.

I see the i7-620M going for less than $20 USD...some sellers ship worldwide--especially the sellers from China.

These would be a typical spec and configuration of a 4 GB memory chip that should work in your notebook:

Kingston 4GB RAM PC3-10600 DDR3 1333Mhz Laptop Memory KTA-MB1333/4G 740617169591 | eBay

Lot of 2 Hynix 8GB (2X4GB) 2Rx8 DDR3-10600S Laptop Memory Ram | eBay

(One) Samsung 4GB 2RX8 pc3 DDR3-10600S Laptop Memory Ram | eBay

4GB RAM and he wanted one that could handle games
