I have a 64 bit machine with AMD Radeon R3 graphics. Upgrading to an earlier version of W10 or even W8.1 (which I had considered) would require a clean install I believe which I am not prepared to do as previously said.

Not sure why Build 1903 will do an in-place upgrade and an earlier Build will not. I personally avoid in-place upgrades as you greatly multiply the potential for issues and you think all your apps will work after upgrade only to find out they do not. Adobe and Microsoft apps are notorious for not surviving an OS upgrade.

Huffer, your link is totally over my head, but thanks for trying. I have read that the current version of Windows 10 (1903) and the previous (1809) are both a nightmare, so not keen on upgrading to either but needs must. I assumed that when I tried to do an in place upgrade to Windows 10 It would be to 1903 as every time I've attempted it I have not sen any place where I could choose which version to use. I'll go back to doing nothing and hope I'm offered the upgrade at some point via update as promised, hopefully before Windows 7 support ends in January! 😩

You should be able to find a legacy download of an older Build of Windows 10. If not post back and I can likely find you one.
