Hello everyone! I have an old laptop and I would like to do my first laptop upgrade. I wanted to ask for the possibilities of changing the hardware of this laptop. I would like to know if I could change the motherboard (since it's too old and I think this one couldn't cope with good processors etc.) , if yes, how can I find the right motherboard that could fit to this laptop? If not, could you please inform me how to find the upgrade compatibility of this laptop. Thank you a lot.

Manual

The series ONLY has 2 system boards

  • For use only with computer models equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo processors part # 456608-001
  • For use only with computer models equipped with Intel Celeron M processors part # 456609-001

Therefore replacing it to a newer one is out of question.

Since your machine is one model/product of the 6720s series, you can look at

(a) A list of CPU's supported (page 73) and upgrade to better CPU

(b) RAM: page 2 shows max RAM, you can upgrade RAM depending on how much RAM on your machine now.

(c) HDD: You can also upgrade HDD but your machine uses SATA II controller.

My final words: if I was you I would not spend money to upgrade. Unless you wish to play around with your money, you can go ahead.

Regards.
