Hello i have the pavilion g7-1300ev , i would like to ask  if i can change my old cpu intel pentium B960  with the   Intel Core i7-2640M 2.80 GHz ? In the  hp pavilion g7 manual  say that he can be suported .

That is possible.

 

The original processor and the Core i7-2640M are both sandy bridge and  the same socket type.

 

The up and down side of this is that since they are 2nd gen products and discontinued from production, they processor may be difficult to find and perhaps a bit expensive because of the market.

 

I suggest using the HP part number version as listed in the Maintenance & Service guide
