Product: HP ENVY Notebook - 13-d036nz (ENERGY STAR)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello first time here. I'm trying to find out if i can replace my CPU to an Intel i7 6700 and which chip would be best eg, 6700, 6700k. My model  notebook  is , HP ENVY Notebook - 13"-d036nz (ENERGY STAR) intel core i5 6200u 2.30 GHZ Skylake. The Motherboard number is M0 3856057   SPS:829285-601 Date code 7J15A0. I also found this number on MB if it helps , ASE 30 LA-C482P rev1.0 2015-07-27.

Any help will be appreciated. cheers Wedgetail9

Hi:

 

The processor is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded separately.

 

In order to upgrade the processor, you would have to replace the motherboard with one listed in your notebook's service manual (chapter 3) that may come with better processor.

You would probably have to replace the heat sink as well.

 

The costs attendant to doing such an upgrade would probably come close to what you paid for the notebook.
