@JP3781,

According to the sources I quoted earlier, there is no difference for an HP 14 dq2031wm: 14-dq2031wm Memory Upgrade - HP 14-dq2031wm Laptop Memory (memorystock.com).

@JP3781,

All right, even if the results come back as 32GB, then the 2 x 16GB RAM sticks you purchased should be compatible.

@JP3781,

Please let me check something else: run cmd as administrator again, and copy/paste/enter:

wmic memorychip get devicelocator, partnumber, manufacturer

In my case, I get:

Hopefully your information will help me to understand why your laptop doesn't accept the 2 x 16GB RAM.

@JP3781,

Thank you. The Samsung M471A5244CBO-CWE RAM does suggest that the 2x16GB Timetec RAM you bought should be compatible -also the opinion of a trusted IM guy I asked, but this is not helpful when the new RAM doesn't work in your laptop.

Just to make sure: do you have the most recent BIOS version installed: F.33 Rev.A: HP Laptop PC 14-dq2000 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support:

If the aforementioned BIOS version happens to be an update, please try installing the Timetec 2x16GB RAM again.  If, however, this update doesn't solve the issue, best thing to do is to return the Timetec RAM to Amazon to get your money back.

This is too bad, because this RAM happens to be very well priced.

The other RAM option you could try is the 16GB Samsung M471A2K43DB1-CWE RAM: Samsung 16GB DDR4 3200MHz SODIMM PC4-25600 CL22 2Rx8 1.2V 260-Pin SO-DIMM Laptop Notebook RAM Memory..., but at almost twice the price of the Timetec, that would be a hard sell.

If for whatever reason your laptop refuses to accept 2x16GB RAM sticks, consider 2x8GB RAM, such as the 8GB Samsung M471A1K43DB1-CWE: Samsung 8GB DDR4 3200MHz SODIMM PC4-25600 CL22 1Rx8 1.2V 260-Pin SO-DIMM Laptop Notebook RAM Memory ....

Kind Regards,
