Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was just wonder if it possible to replace the CPU on my HP 17-by0062cl notebook, or if it would be wiser to replace the board with one that has a better processer. If anyone could get a round about price I would be greatful. Any help would be great thanks.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06148960

 

If you look at the section " Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider parts" there is no mention of the Processor.  This tells me that the processor is soldered to the motherboard and can't be upgraded.  Also, I don't recommend trying to replace the motherboard.  HP has their components made to their specifications.  Therefore, they are not necessarily the same as retail versions.  This means that finding a retail version that would fit properly is very unlikely.

Thank you for the heads up. I was wondering since this is not really a possibility, would you recommend upgrading my Optane memory instead. As of right now I have the standard 16GB installed. What would recommend I go to?

I don't find any mention of Optane Memory anywhere in the specifications for the laptop.  I believe, however, that the Optane Memory only comes in 16 GB and 32 GB sizes.  Here is a guide to help you determine if you do have it: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000023990/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-m...

 

If you do have it, I suggest contacting Intel's Tech Support for help with determining if it can be upgraded.  They are the experts on their products.
