Okay guys I recently asked another question and was told that this computer supports nvme m.2, I felt great news I ran out and I got a nvme 500gb SSD to do the upgrade over the measly 128 that came with it. I got everything cloned and then installed it into my PC no problem but now bios will not even recognize it but it clearly shows nvme PCI Express on the motherboard and everything is plugged in.. however it does show up just fine on the nvme to USB 3.0 enclosure whenever I have smaller SSD installed....
Can someone please help this is driving me nuts I have also ordered the ribbon cable and SATA board for the other SSD slot put to put the 128 over there in a separate adapter enclosure.
Please help me get this new nvme m.2 to recognize this driving me crazy.

I have the service manual and I bought the inland nvme M .2 512gb SSD. I used acronis to do the clone I'm thinking the problem lies and the Clone process clones over to the GPT format partition instead of MBR but I'm not sure on how to go about fixing that and I'm not even sure if that is correct. This is driving me insane I have migrated to different solid-state drives before always with the SATA interface but it should be the same process I don't understand why it's not cooperating.

I have no experience with that brand of M.2. I looked it up. Is it a B + M keyed M.2 disk? It seems to be an older type disk (x2) with pretty low read and write speeds and a Phison E8-10 controller. Your 8th gen system could support a Samsung 970 Evo which has 3 times the rated speeds. I think you may be correct that the problem is with the clone. Can you explain exactly how you did it? Does the laptop also have a hard drive in addition to the M.2?

It is an older one I just wanted to get a cheap one last night at Microcenter it is there store brand. I know the Samsung on would be able to go much faster but I am not doing any heavy computing this laptop is strictly for gaming.
And no it does not have an extra solid-state drive however it does have the connection on the motherboard and the Tray but the ribbon is missing.
I used acronis to clone and finally got the BIOS to pick it up but it still would not boot. I was able to access advanced repair and get into the command prompt then tried running bootrec but I was getting acess denied.I really do not want to do a new installation of windows but well if I have to

If it is showing up in the BIOS then a clean install will work. You can also try plugging the original back in and make a system image backup to an external disk and then when you install Windows to the new one choose advanced options and restore from system image. Works pretty much like a clone...copies apps and settings and files, anyway.
