Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates your notebook can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-2400 memory.

c06719946.pdf (hp.com)

The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates that it will support 2 x 16 GB of memory.

HP - Compaq HP 15-db0018nm | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

You can run this command to see how much memory your notebook can support:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports NVMe SSD's, so you may want to install one of those and use the 500 GB mechanical hard drive for storage or remove the 500 GB mechanical hard drive altogether.

CPU and GPU are not upgradeable except by replacing the motherboard, which is not really economically viable to do (costs too much). Memory can go to 32 gigs and your storage is a slow 5400 rpm mechanical hard drive.

You can verify memory max using some command line inquiries explained here:

Service Manual

See p. 42 for a good image of the Battery, hard drive, memory and the M.2 SSD slot. I would upgrade it to 16 gigs of DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM memory which will mean replacing your 2 x 4 gig modules with a pair of these or similar:

I ran the command and it calculates up to 64GB.

67108864kb / 1048576 = 64GB

is this the most reliable way?

How sure can i be with this?

HP Recommended

I'd go with what the Crucial memory report indicates.

Alright,as soon as i upgrade it i'll post results here

Installed 2x16GB sticks at 2400MHz by sk hynix and it recognized them.

Thank you all.

Huffers solution also works,Its the same cmd command to get max ram memory.
