I want to upgrade my HP Elitebook 8460p witch has a i5-2520M with a i7-2670QM. The service manual sayes it can take a 2670M. Is the i7-2670MQ the right proccessor?

Yes here is the manual:
The Manual lists it under i7-2670M, but under the Quad Core category so it is the same as an i7-2670QM.
See p. 1
It uses the same motherboard for dual or quad core processors so if you can find an i7-2670QM or any of the other listed i7 Quad Cores, it would be a drop in replacement for your i5. Use good thermal compound and clean around the processor and air vents and clean the cooling fan blades with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip and let them dry. Use the thermal compound (e.g. Arctic Silver) sparingly...get the thinnest continuous coat possible just on the processor core and don't let it slop over onto the green board. You are adding a much more powerful heat source into the same system so you have to get it configured for optimal heat management. The cooling system can handle it if you set everything up correctly. Good luck.

Hi:
I think the service manual is incorrect.
I cannot find the existence of an i7-2670M processor on Intel's website, just the 2670QM
https://ark.intel.com/products/53469/Intel-Core-i7-2670QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz
Try the search yourself. Nothing comes up for a plain ol' 2670M
