Upgrading HP Omen 17

I am planning to upgrade my Omen 17 since the standard config of 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD (M.2) is not really enough for me anymore. 

I would be planning to use a 1 TB Samsung Evo Plus 970 M.2 2280 SSD but I am not sure if that will work at all, since there are some people saying that you can only use a 512 GB SSD maximum. Did anyone try it and got it to run with Samsung EVO 1TB?  I know that Crucial offers a P1 with 1TB, but since there are so many negative reviews online, I do not wanna go down the Crucial route.

For RAM I want to try this one:

Do you think that will fit? I also heard of a german company that is "overraming" HP Omen laptops with 64 GBs of RAM, did anybody try that?

See pp. 37-44. Battery, memory and storage are customer-replaceable authorized repair/upgrade items so no warranty issues.

Max memory is 2 x 16 gig DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM. 32 gig memory modules would cost a fortune so whether 64 gigs works or not is a bit of a moot point. 32 will. You do not need to buy gaming or performance memory as the system will run it at the speeds found in OEM modules. But that Hyper-X would likely work. Occasionally we see reports of HP gaming laptops that will not boot with low-latency gaming type memory. 

There is no capacity limit on the M.2 port other than what the market can offer and your budget. So yes the 1 TB Evo 970 Plus is a great choice; would have been my recommendation.

After your answer I looked again with focus on Latency timings. I found SO-DIMM with the same timings as the build in memory with 32 GB in one stick. Do you think that is compatible:

I don't actually know. We have never had anyone try and report here whether 32 gig modules will work. I think there is a chance. 32 gig memory modules are supported by the chipset, but that is by far not the end of the inquiry. Frankly a total of 32 gigs memory is so spacious I don't think we have ever had anyone think he or she needed 64. If you can actually find a seller offering the laptop with 64 gigs total memory I think that is good evidence it will work.
