Yes, according to the report the notebook should support 32 GB of memory.

You may want to try out 1 x 16 GB first, add it to the 4 GB chip and if the notebook boots up, works fine and reports 20 GB of memory, then it should be safe to add the second 16 GB chip.

Hi:

2 x 16 GB of memory is not officially supported in your notebook.

If you want to see if it has the possibility of running 2 x 16 GB of memory, you can do this to find out:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

After trying the command that you have told me about me , it shows this number 33554432 , i think it takes up to 32 GB , no ??

in CMD , it shows this way :

MaxCapacityEx
33554432

I have a similar original specification, HP-L15dw2025cl that comes with 12gb ram and 1tb HDD. Recently I bought 16gb HP RAM module on AMAZON.com for around $40. According to my user manual, there are 2 OEM memory module slots 4GB + 8GB = 12GB. I replaced the 4GB OEM Samsung RAM module with my new 16GB HP RAM module.16+8 =24GB which is my current RAM amount. Not sure why previous user told you to switch out the 8GB and get only 20GB. I also put in a 512GB PCIE SSD and cloned that as my new C:, which made my computer blazing fast, almost no boot up time at all. Though I didn't really notice much of difference between 12GB and 24GB of RAM.

I don't see how you can possibly compare the specs between your model:

HP Laptop - 15-dw2025cl Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

...and the HP 250 G5 which has an Intel i5 6200u processor and runs the memory at 2133 MHz.

The only similarities are they are both made by HP, have 15.6" displays, and an Intel processor and chipset.

The reason I recommended the OP first try one 16 GB memory chip and add it to the 4 GB chip is to make sure that 16 GB works in one slot since the service manual for the 250 G5 indicates 2 x 8 GB is the max.

Apparently, you missed the part where I wrote if the 20 GB configuration worked, then go ahead and add the second 16 GB chip.

The 250 G5 does not have a M.2 slot unless it came with a M.2 SSD from the factory and if it did, it would only support a SATA SSD

It's my bad for jumping into the fire without doing the research first, thinking that the core i5 HP models are similar.
