HP Notebook - 15-db0069wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently have a 15.6" diagonal HD SVA BrightView micro-edge WLED-backlit (1366 x 768) display and I want to upgrade to an FHD screen. I was wondering if any 3rd party screen will suffice as long as it's the same screen and connector (which I believe is 30 pin in my case). Or do I HAVE to buy HP parts?

Would this screen be compatible with my laptop?

You want to be sure to get a decent quality screen. Aftermarket 3rd party screens vary quite a bit in quality. This is the Service Manual:

Manual

Look at p. 23 of the Manual. Your biggest problem is going to be that different cables are used in the HD and FHD non-touch models. So to upgrade to FHD you also need to replace the cable which gets into a little more disassembly of the laptop.

Non-touch, FHD L23064-001

I assume you have a regular bezel on your laptop which means you need to match the characteristics of this part:

FHD, anti glare, non-touch L20376-001

You are correct that you do not need to buy the part from HP. If you can find a panel that is the same as far as dimensions, the width of the border around the actual panel and the connector location and type (30 or 40 pin) it will work. And as stated you need an FHD cable.

I see you are located in the USA. HP does not have the cable in its part store:

I do find some screen cables on eBay but not listed by HP Part number so a bit hard to tell if they are FHD or HD cables. If you want me to help further I will try to track it down. Might be good for you to pull your cable as a reference.

The screen is readily available on eBay for a fraction of what HP would charge:

If you do need the narrow bezel screen this is it:

A lot of people ask about this upgrade but I have a feeling few actually get done. I have done quite a few such upgrades and am willing to help as long as you are willing to keep trying to do it.
