Pavilion 15 p-001au
Linux

Hello! I wish to upgrade my RAM and swap my HDD for an SSD, and I want to be sure the hardware will be compatible before ordering it!

My computer is: pavilion 15 notebook p-001au,

My PN is: G8D67PA

The SSD is http://www.corsair.com/en-ww/force-series-le-240gb-sata-3-6gbs-ssd

The memory: http://www.corsair.com/en-ww/value-select-8gb-ddr3-sodimm-memory-kit-cmso8gx3m1a1333c9

Do you think it will be working?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes you will need DDR3L memory and it will cost the same as DD3 memory. What I mean is that you should have the same kind of memory in each slot. The PC comes with 1 x DDR3L 1066MHZ RAM which is not the best RAM out there. So I would remove this RAM and either put in 1x 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (SoDimm) or 2x 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz (SoDimm) RAM. If you decide to put in two sticks of RAM it is best to use exactly the same RAM (speed, cl, even brand). You can buy RAM in kits of two sticks.

Hope it helps,

David

Hi,

The SSD will be compatible and greatly improve the performance of you system. The memory however in your suystem right now is DDR3L which has a lower voltage (1.35V) than the DD3 memory (1.5V) in your link. So if you are planning to add this memory to already excisting memory you will need to add DDR3L memory and try to find the same speed as the actual installed memory 1066Mhz.

I would consider upgrading both the memory slots and removing the already installed memory with a kit of 2x4GB DDR3L 1600Mhz memory or 2x8GB DDR3L 1600 Mhz memory. Having the exact same memory in both slots will make your system most stable. You can find kits in online stores for very good prize.

Hope it helps,

David

Thank you lomare, I was not even sure I had 2  slots!

Do you mean 4x2 is better than 8x1? And do I need DDR3L absolutely or DDR3 will work? What is the best?

Thanks again for helping!

Perfect, I choosed the Crucial SO-DIMM DDR3L 8 Go 1600 MHz CAS 11, in order to keep a free spot for later... Same one of course!

Thanks again for your help, have a good day.
