Hi,
I have HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop. This one: Link
The current RAM specification is the Original one
8GB Samsung 3200MHz
I am planning to upgrade the RAM and these are a few options and related questions:
1. Keep the existing 8 GB and add a New 8GB RAM stick. Total=16GB.
Q. When adding the new one, do I have to match the brand i.e. Samsung?? or will Crucial or Corsair work as well
Q. What about the Rank of the RAM, I don't know the current one's rank (perhaps 1x8 but not sure)
2. Keep the existing 8 GB and add a New 16GB RAM stick. Total=24GB.
Q. Is it okay to have uneven RAM sizes? Will it not cause overwork on one, or cause the higher one to not work up to said potential?
Q. I am considering this option as I can in future upgrade to 32GB, but unsure due to the above question
3. Remove the existing 8 GB and add two New 16GB RAM sticks, Total=32GB
Q. In the manual it says 32 GB is supported. HP support guy on whatsapp said 32 GB is supported. But one on Helpline said No. So is it 32GB supported?
I am finding 8 GB to be fully exhausted currently, but I believe 32 GB may be overkill.
My PC usage is for: training AI models on CUDA, Docker, WSL for Kali Linux, Games: Valorant and DOTA2
What do you suggest that is better or the Laptop, it's future and my pocket as well.?

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!
Your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec1025AX (183J5PA) can indeed be upgraded up to 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks.
And that is exactly what I would recommend: go for 2 x 16GB DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz Dual Rank RAM modules, such as this quality Amazon-India purchase example: https://www.amazon.in/Timetec-PC4-25600-Unbuffered-Compatible-Notebook/dp/B098TYN671/ref=sr_1_11?cri....
I would do this to maximize your RAM/program performance, making it future-proof, and the added resale value of your laptop. In my opinion, 2 x 16GB is not overkill.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
