My husband has a laptop with only 4GB of memory and would like to get it upgraded. I have looked and looked online for memory that is compatible with this model and have not found anything! I have also found two different HP maintenance and service guides for the HP 15 laptop series and each one gives a different part number for memory. Can anyone please help?
My questions are: 1. What is the correct part number? 2. How much memory can this particular model/configuration support? and 3. is it possible to know if there two memory slots or just one (without opening it up)?
Model number HP 15-bs0XX

Hi:
According to the service manual, your notebook has one memory slot, and the maximum memory the slot can take is 8 GB.
This means you would have to remove the existing 4 GB memory module and replace it with an 8 GB memory module.
This would be a compatible 8 GB memory module for your notebook.

Paul, may I also ask - will upgrading from 4GB to 8GB of RAM make the laptop noticeably faster or is there something else I should consider doing? I already mentioned the AMD processor that it has. It also has a 1 TB drive but does not have a SSD drive. Can the laptop take a SSD in addition to the 1 TB drive? I don't think he would want to give up the storage space and SSD drives are smaller I believe.

Yes, doubling the memory should help considerably.
I don't know if the 15-bs AMD models have SATA M.2 slots to add a M.2 drive like the Intel 15-bs models do.
If it does, you can install a M.2 SSD and use the 1 TB drive for storage.

You should be able to use any brand SATA M.2 drive.
The WD Blue SATA M.2 drive provides the best performance for the price, IMHO.
This is the 500 GB model...again...make sure the M.2 slot is there before buying one.

Anytime.
Glad to have been of assistance.
You can get the same model drive as a 2.5" SSD. $109.99 for the 1 TB and $53.99 for the 500 GB model.
