I'm looking to size up my RAM, but I do not know if there's a limit to how much I can upgrade. I upgraded from 1x8GB to 2x8GB, but I'd like to know if 2x16 or 2x32 is possible.
Bonus question: From what series is my laptop? I haven't been able to find a proper manual anywhere.

Run this command to see how much memory your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
There is no service manual for the 15s-fq2xxx model series.
HP only releases service manuals for the original model series which in the case of your notebook would be the 15s-fq0xxx.
To complicate things further the 15s-fq model series belong to the 15-dy model series and they both use the same manual.

The service manual is somewhat useless to look up specifications and motherboard part numbers for a 15s-fq2xxx notebook.
