I bought my laptop in December because it was on sale and dirt cheap.
It has 4GB RAM and 500GB Harddrive.
I bought it with the intent of upgrading the RAM
The computer locks up on me at least once a day and it is irritating.
I feel that increasing the RAM will help.
I want to upgrade to 8GB or even 16GB.
I cannot find the RAM I need to upgrade at Best Buy where I bought it, or at FRY's or Crucial .
I was told that I had to buy the RAM straight from HP.
Is this true? If it is, how is it purchased?
As far as I know I use DDR3L with a 240 DIMM 64X and 1.35V. Is there a way I can confirm this and then learn the maximum amount I can upgrade with?
Are there 2 slots or 1 ?
Is it 204 DIMM or 240 DIMM?
Is 8GB as high as I can go or can I go higher with this model?
Many thanks !

All notebook DDR3 memory is 204 pin.
It is the desktop DDR3 memory that is 240 pin.
I recently bought this memory for my HP 350 G1 business notebook...same specs as what you need...

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
Memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1 on pp 1-2.
Make sure you match your model specs with the columns at the top of the page.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05227786
The memory removal and replacement procedures can be found in chapter 6, starting on page 46.
Extensive disassembly of the notebook will be required to upgrade the memory.

Thanks for your help.
I found this manual last night.
It says that there are 2 non customer accesible ports
Two non-customer-accessible/nonupgradable memory module slots
But right below it, HP states that it can be upgraded
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations ● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)[UMA models only] ● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1) ● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2) ● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1) ● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) ● 2048-MB total system memory (2048×1)
Or......is it saying that it can support as much as 16GB but it has to be original to the laptop othwerwise it can't be upgraded.
Or, is it saying that it can be upgraded but it has to be done by an authorized HP facility?
I read the instructions for removing the RAM, it doesn't look too tough.
Why did I have ot buy a cheap computer ....pay now or pay later......lol
Thanks for your help.

You're very welcome.
Yes, you are correct with your statement...is it saying that it can be upgraded, but it has to be done by an authorized HP facility.
Your model can be upgraded since it has DDR3L memory.
Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots DDR3L-1600 single channel support |

DDR3L-1333 single channel support (DDR3L-1600 downgrade to DDR3L-1333) |
The non upgradable slots seems to be for PC's with the DDR4 memory.
Yes, you can do it yourself if you are good at taking things apart, but you probably risk voiding the warranty, and you will certainly void it if you break anything in the process of installing the memory.
As I try to decipher the crazy specs grid, it looks to me based on your notebook's specs that it can take 2 x 8 GB of PC3L-1600 memory.
IMO, it probably wouldn't be worth the money to pay an authorized service center to upgrade it, but that is up to you.

What about the DIMM......I did not see anything about 204 vs. 240.
I do appreciate your help.
I found some PC3L 1600 on Amazon......16GB (2x8) is $89.
But nothing about the DIMM
I am not going to pay someone to upgrade it for me.
But I'll do it myself if I can find the RAM.
Otherwise, I"ll just have to deal with the problem for a whle longer until I can justify getting a new computer...next time I won't go cheap like I did this time. I will at least go midrange.
I guess you get what you pay for.
