Hey I just want to upgrade my hard drive pc to ssd and would like to know if it is compatible and if I can add the ssd without replacing the hdd

Hi:

 

Your HP 15-ay117nx does not have a M.2 slot to add a SATA SSD because only the 15-ay### notebooks that originally came with M.2 SATA SSD's from HP have the additional M.2 slot.

 

You would have to find and buy the additional board required to add a M.2 SSD, and the screw to secure the board to the motherboard.

It would be a lot easier and cheaper to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.
