Hello, hope I have chosen the correct board.
My new laptop has 2 x Thunderbolt USB ports which is very new to me! I need more than the 2 USB A ports the laptop has so I bought a hub providing 4 USB A ports which I hoped to connect to the laptop using the USB C plug the hub has.
When I connect the hub nothing appears to happen when plugging in such as a mouse or an external HD. Not sure if the hub must be incompatible or should I enable the Thunderbolt in sone way first? I do feel that the actual 'c' connector does not go deep enough into the port as it falls out very easily.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated please as I cannot function with only 2 regular USBs. Tempted to order a hub which connects by USB A instead of trying another 'C' one. I am not technically minded and apologise for the garbled explanation. Thank you

It is highly recommended to use an externally powered USB hub in order to not draw too much current on the USB circuit, including the traces.

Thank you Erico, been searching for a powered hub but only need 4 ports. Trying to find somewhere local to me in UK so I can return it if it is unsuitable or faulty. The only ones I can find are online so far. The last hub I bought from Amazon seemed dead and I wasted my money.
Glad to have this board.

Traces are the thin metal lines on a circuit board that connect the chips and discrete components.
When too much current is drawn on a trace, it tends to melt and go up in smoke, creating an open circuit.
An open circuit will not work.
