I have replaced by laptop's genuine hard disk (from HP , as default) from a repair shop. He has returned me my old- non working hard disk. I want to make sure that , the returned Hard disk was belonging to my PC .
Can we check the , if Hard disk was belonging to the laptop (from manufacturer - HP ) by using laptop/ hard disk's serial key?
let me put it like,
Can we see default configuration and see serial numbers Hard disk, RAM, etc. in a laptop using its serial key ?
If it is possible, I can be sure that he did not cheat me by giving any other faulty Hard disk and used my laptop's hard disk for another laptop by small repairing.
Btw, my hard disk was making clicking sound - arround approx, every 1 sec - which is non- repairable according to the repair shop guy.
Please do let me know, if you know the possible solution.

There is no build sheet on each laptop telling the serial number of each compoent installed. No way the factory could crank out enough laptops to fill demand if they did that. Generally hard drives used in HP laptops have a "replace with HP (Part number)" sticker on them but not always.
Also you can see if the capacity of the drive matches. Lastly if the original software is still accessible on the hard drive there are traces of information telling the serial number of the laptop but if the disk was making a clunking noise it is likely no longer able to have data read from it.
And I might ask why are you going to a repair shop where you think the proprietor may be a huge crook like that?
