I installed Patriot P400 Lite 1TB NVMe M2 Gen4 SSD to my Laptop. But whenever I start my computer, the ssd does not appear at first boot. If I restart the computer after startup the ssd shows up and there is no problem in using it, I don't have the same problem with this ssd on other computer. I know the what is the problem, i need the fix:
Let me explain why this happening; If we shutdown the computer and start up again, it meanings this is a cold start. And whenever you start your computer with coldstart, whole operating system booting from zero. This means installed m2 ssd drivers on windows will not be recognised until windows boots. But if you using the "restart" option, this means hot-start and windows drivers will be recognized until rebooting windows.
So, HP victus 16 motherboards doesnt know the firmware or model about some m2 ssd's, including the Patriot P400 Lite. But windows knows it.
We need a bios update for fixing this. I using laptop with this problem with 1 year. I waited so long but there is no bios update for this problem.

This could be a problem with fast start
Withe the SSD working, delete and re-create the hibernation file
To get a new hibernation file do the following. Enter 'CMD' in the windows search and select 'run as administrator'.
Be sure to close other apps to avoid losing data during the hibernation.
powercfg -h off powercfg -h on shutdown /h |
|
Note that Windows fast start using the hibernation file.
The Fast Startup feature in Windows allows your computer start up faster after a shutdown. When you shut down your computer, Fast Startup will put your computer into a hibernation state instead of a full shutdown. Fast Startup is enabled by default if your computer is capable of hibernation |
Make sure your system is working correctly. If a device is not working when you create the hibernation file, that device will be marked as not working every time your system resumes. This will be true even if the device is fixed.
Let me know what you find out.

No. It didnt work. I did this while ssd working but it didnt work. I don't even use fast boot anyway. Either I am not fully explaining the problem or you are reading incompletely:
when I first start - cold start the computer, the SSD doesn't even show up in the BIOS. How its gonna be able to be a problem on windows?
I switched the ssd's on system so check the ssd slots, there is no problem on slots. I check the ssd on other computer, ssd working first boot on other brand laptop computer completely.
I think i found the problem as a software engineer. But i didnt the write bios, i cant fix this myself. You cant fix this yourself too. Is there any chance we can report this to the team that can fix it?
i bought a "called" something high-brand and it has something weird problems. I read like this on HP forums from 2013, i read this problem on reddit too, and there is no solving. What's the point of a rare BIOS update for a properly working computer other than that problem? What a shame

The drive is not always listed. I have some systems that show "Windows boot manager" or "Ubuntu boot manager" instead of a disk drive name or ID. Your Victus 16 shows "OS boot manager"
Did you clone the old drive to the new one?
Make sure that fast start is disabled.

It is not about listing. If i unattach the ssd that was in it when I bought the computer and just leave the patriot one, if i install windows on patriot one, when i try to open pc after close it, my laptop says something like "there is no storage device" (i dont remember what was now but it was like this). I have os boot manager too. I always deactive fast-boot because i'm using external sound card for music making with asio drivers and if i use the fast-boot my sound card driver doesnt work.
So, no didnt clone the old one to new one or something like it. I also tried install windows on patriot one, i also tried leave just patriot one on pc. I'm closing pc, and opening after hours; my second ssd doesnt show on computer until i restart windows. That motherboard with this bios doesnt recognize the ssd, but windows does. I really tired restart windows everytime i open the computer
We just going to far away an blurring the main problem now. That pc firmware cannot see the ssd whic is working properly. And again; i think we cant fix this ourselves. HP team needs release a bios update or something like for this. How can we solve the problem by entering codes in the command block only on windows? After restarting there is already no problem, the problem is probably not even about operating system. If I had installed linux on ssd it would still say ssd not found after coldstart. I currently have windows installed on the ssd that comes with the laptop, I use it by having to restart the computer after each boot so that I can access my second ssd. Thats how i use this laptop since 1 year
