HP 14 DQ1001LA
Ubuntu LTS

Hi

I recently got an HP 14 dq1001la (Serial number: 6QW05LA#AKH)  and I noticed it didn't had WiFi 5, only 2.4 (according to the terminal it is a RTL8723DE) , and I had an Intel AX210 on my main PC but I thought I could switch it to the laptop for a better WIFI and BT but I'm not sure if it may work or even if the laptop has a BIOS whitelist

Another upgrade I had in mind was the ram but I'm not sure if it is possible, currently it has 4GB 3200mhz and it is decent for everyday browsing, but at least 8 would be even better, so I want to know if the laptop has soldered ram or not

Any help is welcome! the laptop has been amazing so far, it came with Windows 11 and was slow and fans were on all the time, I installed Ubuntu 22.04 and everything worked correctly and I love the fact that I own a Linux laptop now

Hi:

Your notebook only comes with one antenna wire, so any dual band Intel card won't work properly.

I don't know if this card will work with ubuntu, but it is the only one where the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will work with a single antenna wire:

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

The card has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an AC router and an excellent signal.

You can find this model on eBay, or Ali Express.

I see some Intel 3165 cards listed on the eBay listings, so don't buy those.

RTL8821CE - Buy RTL8821CE with free shipping on AliExpress

On the Ali Express listings, make sure the card has the HP Part # of 915620-001.
