Hi:

 

You just install the replacement 2.5" SSD in place of the dead 1 TB hard drive using the existing connector.

 

It is highly unlikely you will be able to recover data from the old hard drive, but you can purchase a sata to USB hard drive connector, plug it into a USB port and see if you can read the data from the hard drive.
