OMEN by HP – 17-an010nw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

Recently I decided to upgrade my RAM memory in laptop, but I get into the one problem which is: I dont know what memory ram is suitable for the my laptop. I checked the manual and there is something like this:

"8 GB 2666 MHz 1.2 v DDR4 shared"

I have one spare slot for the next memory ram and there is my question. Should it be from the same company? Or it can be from other company but it needs to be the same parameters?

Hi,

Your notebook supports max 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM (2x16GB)

. You can purchase from your preferred brand. At the moment you have one 8GB module. So you can add another 8GB module in the empty slot.

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-omen-17-an010nw#memory

On page 43 of service manual you can see the steps to install the RAM

Hope it helps,

David

So basicly if I have from Crucial brand memory and I would buy f.e. Kingston one with the same parameters there will be no trouble with laptop? Or I should use the same one which is in laptop right now. I did not open open the laptop up so I dont know really which brand of memory HP Omen uses? Is it Crucial then? If yes then I will buy one of these.

Hi,

Many times HP uses Samsung or Hynix RAM. However, you can use your preferred brand. I recommend Crucial (which you can also find on the big online stores) because I use them a lot without any problems.
