Hello, the notebook is out of HP warranty about a month before the left hinge cracked.  I have an extended warranty via credit card company, however, they are requesting proof that hinges are covered, "a letter from the manufacturer."

This computer was a gift for my mother and I would like to get the repair done for her, but I would very much like to take advantage of my extended warranty credit card benefit.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Support Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.

I am still seeking an answer to my orignal question.

I have received private messages requesting my name, address, and serial number of the device, which I provided.

I then received a quote for a repair in the amount of $299 with a discount offered.

I then received a link to a product or warranty guide for a completely different product (not a notebook/laptop computer.)

I am asking for verification that under the original product warranty and under normal household use, a cracked hinge which is preventing the notebook computer from being closed, would be covered.

Thank you.
