Webcam lights glows but there is no image in the camera. Tried unistalling the web cam & re-installing , updating the driver but no success. Tried installing the cyberlink webcam software still no image. How to check there is hardware problem or software?

@chawlamp Installing multiple webcam drivers and programs might cause conflicts. If you are using more than one software program to use your webcam, such as Skype for instant messaging and YouCam for saving videos, then make sure that only one program is open when using the webcam. Do not attempt to open both programs at the same time, and close your webcam software when you are done. It is a good idea to wait for 5 to 10 seconds after closing webcam software before opening another webcam software program.
Restarting the computer can resolve most software conflicts. If problems persist, uninstall one of the webcam software applications, and reinstall the software you want to use.

Thanks for the reply Riddle, I have removed all the third party softwares like youcam , logi ( of Logitech) even then while opening any single app at a time, which uses webcam ( eg default "Camera" app of windows 10) the webcam is activated ( green indicator of camera glows) but there is complete blank in the image window. Updating drivers shows that you have the latest driver installed. Un-installing and re-installing through device manager does not result in any success either.
Resubmitted : I think there is hardware problem, since my laptop is dual boot with windows 10 & ubantu. I also cheked up by opening "Cheese" app in ubantu and found the same problem there as well while the light glows but there is no image in the winodw.
can anyone let me know the inbuilt camera part detail (model no etc) so that I can order/purchase and replace the same? I did not find it anywhere in the manual as well. Laptop Model No. is HP-AK007 TX Gaming Laptop

@chawlamp I'm glad you've shared those details, I must inform you that HP Does not support or recommend using a dual boot, to avoid such issues, also, before jumping into a conclusion, I would request you to perform a hardware test on the webcam, please use the below steps to get started: (Also try this: Click here)
-
Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
-
Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
-
On the main menu, click Component Tests.
-
The Component Tests menu displays.
-
Webcam Connection Test - This test initiates video streaming on the webcam. If the test detects multiple webcams, select the webcam you want to test. (This test is currently not available in the Windows version of the hardware diagnostics.)
The run the test, click Webcam Connection, and then click Run once.
Keep us posted. Although, I hope that answers your query,
If it did, simply select "Accept as solution", to help the community grow,
And if you wish to thank us for our efforts, click on the thumbs up for kudos.
Have a great day ahead.
