That is to confirm your machine is an HP Pavilion - 15-cc184cl. Parts list
https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=2ss23ua
and Crucial says it supports M.2 NVMe SSD

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05697126
It's manual:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06525445.pdf (page 2)
It supports dual storage with M.2 SATA SSD + 2.5" SATA HDD (or SSD). It has 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA now, you can add M.2 SATA SSD to your machine using standard drives on market today such as
https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/sata-ssd/ssd-860-evo-sata-3-m-2-2tb-mz-n6e2t0bw/
Crucial says its M.2 NVMe SSD drives are also compatible with your machine

Regards.

OK, it lloks like it doesn't have both drives at the same time. So I can copy the current drive to the SSD.
Any suggestions on what to use to copy it. I have seagate backup on the system now.
I thought I was told that it can have two drives but obviously it one or the other. sata or ssd.
I still have to remove the powr cable. Any hints on how to open the cover for the ac power?
Does HP ever add their comments to these questiions? I looked at some Youtube videos and there are many different configurations of the 15-cc184cl
I bought it in 2017 from Costco. I don't know if that explains anything.

Firstly I don't know why the manual does not match your machine AND Crucial also says the same.
The amplest way to move everything from old HDD to new SSD is to clone. Please use the following Guide
https://www.backblaze.com/blog/ssd-upgrade-guide/
I used to do similar task around 10 times each year with 100% successful rates. I used different tool but same thing logically.

I changed it back to "not the solution" again because of the questions on what the mother board is.
When it starts up it says ASUS not HP, so it looks like ASUS made this motherboard for HP.
Is there anything I can look for on the motherboard to try to figure out what it really is.
Do you have any way to ask HP for some help on this since it is an unusual situation.
Since it came from COSTCO it makes sense that it was cheaper version of what it was supposed to be.
